Brake Pads For T16 Calipers?

Recommended Posts

D.B.205

Hello,

does someone know which brake pads for the 57 Girling/Lucas brake calipers from T16 to use?

The original pads 425269 no more available. On Ebay I found only cheap ones, that I dont want to use. <_<

I hoped something from 406 could be use, but I have found nothing. :o

Best regards,

Dirk

Hi,

just had a look on www.brakebook.com (Mintex catalogue)

Mintex front pads are part number MDB1652

Thanks...thats a good website.

In Germany the Mintex MDB1652 will be about 50,- Euro, also I found EBC Blackstuff EBC100670 for 60,- Euro.

In UK the Mintex are a bit cheaper, also there are the M1411 for racing.

But it´s for my daily driver "SRI", I think some good normal brake pads are enough.

I think its the same pad shape as a 306 gti6? in which case a renault clio pad is very similar and can be found a little cheaper, also many 406's have a very similar brake caliper.

I don't think MDB1652 is correct, as there's no 283mm discs listed for the T16 on the catalogues.

I think MDB 17 31/32 is more likely, the pads are 129mm long, 52/56mm height respectively.

you need to check your pads with a vernier or tape/ruler.

Hello,

the 406 has another brake system, also Girling, but the calipers and the pads are not the same.

405 T16 pads are only 109mm long.

283mm discs are the same as 306 GTI16.

Best regards,

Dirk

Maybe easier to convert to a 406 brake setup? That should be cheap and plentyful, and also have some thicker discs.

Yes, 406 will be easier but I´ve some t16 calipers from breaking the car.

And thicker discs are heavier...the wheels are heavy enough.

Best regards,

Dirk

I´ve found brake pads from TRW/Lucas.

I did not think that the difference between original 266mm/54 and the 283mm/57 is so big. The T16 brake is fantastic good.
