205 Track With A 106 Gti Engine In... Need To No About The Clutch

Hello my friend has just brought a 205xl with a 16v 106 gti engine striped proper shed looking but goes like joe f*** lol for us to have fun at the track in lol

 

 

Problem is cant get it in gear due to the clutch just rang the people where i can get one off but they have ask me weather it is 96-98 or 98-00 we not sure which engine it is does anyone no weather there is a difference? or can just buy which ever and put it on do you no ???

 

we tried adjusting the cable ect

 

if u can let me no

i would remove the clutch from the car first, then take it in with you, safest option

They changed the bolt hole spacing on the cover so you will nedd the correct one to match the flywheel you have.

I would suggest that it may not actually be the clutch, but the thrust bearing. I would take it apart and have a look before purchasing anything, although while you're in there you may want to just change the whole lot anyway.
