Gearbox Options For 205 1.4 Xs

Recommended Posts

Shevy

Hi folks,

I'm in desperate need of some help.

The gearbox on my run around 205 1.4 xs has blown up and I just can not seem to source another one from anywhere.

Does anyone know if I can fit a 106 rallye or gti gearbox to this engine and if so do I need the clutch from each respective gearbox or can I use my current XS clutch.

I know Rallye ratios are pretty similar to my current box and the GTi box is a little taller but I'm not bothered by that.

Any advie would bre much appreciated as I have to get this car back on the road this week for work !!!!

Cheers

Kevin

106 boxes are fine, but the GTI etc have a thicker diff pin, which means your N/S shaft won't go in properly, so you'll have to refit the oil seal about 3mm proud of the casing to keep it on the right part of the shaft to effect a seal.

Oh and remove the little ball bracket on the back of the diff casing (torx bolt on one side, the big nut is welded on :) ) or it will hit the 205 subframe; the gearbox upper mount needs to be changed to the 205 one.
