[car_overhaul] Nickaliath's 205 GTI Overhaul

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Its been a long time since i did a Peugeot 205 Project, So i thought its about time to do another (plus i missed it).

I have bought a pretty standard 1.9 GTI, had some different wheels, exhaust and twin 40's on it but these are all being sold off.

I have also purchased a Gti-6 engine, ecu, loom and other bits for the engine, which is going to be delivered this week. Its the first time ive encountered a gti-6 engine to work on but shouldnt be too much of a hassle as its still an XU.

Bodywork is gonna be pretty much standard, previous owner has done a poor job of smoothing locks out and rear wiper etc. i will be sorting all this out, and tidying any dents etc.

wheels will probably be painted white, currently polished type.

Im aiming for a street sleeper, once ive got the gti-6 engine in there i will plan the future stage of turbocharging the engine, but this wont be until all other work is done.

Im not too sure about interior yet, time will tell. although two front seats need replacing.

Brakes will all be uprated types, with bigger calipers and discs on front if they will fit under the standard wheels?!

anyway hers some pics to get my project page started.

If you go into that engine bay pic in photbucket you can edit, rotate 90 degrees, overwrite original, and we can save our necks getting cricked!

Nice project car, make sure you treat that tinworm in the engine bay, stop it getting a hold!

Got the engine sat in the bay yesterday, although it has to come back out as need a different clutch which i found out after  .

Got soaking wet as it was pooring down with rain!!! my feet were like i had jumped in a foot puddle!.

ANyway i will have to take it back out next saturday hopefully if weather ok and fit the mi-16 clutch, also i will have to re-angle the exhaust manifold to fit down tunnel.

I will update some pics a little later.

Was going to get the engine bolted up this weekend but didnt want to risk the wet weather again, although it didnt rain once!!!! typical.

I started to put the interior back together as the previous owner had stripped it out.

My full leather seats arrived so the rears went in yesterday and the fronts will hopefully be put in today.

I also started to put the upper part of the dash in the car, i got to the cluster wiring and found a single pin wire which i cant for the life of me find where it goes!!!! its bugging me as im sure it goes on the back of the cluster!!!

I have got all the necessary engine loom wiring out, so i hope that i can make a start on it today!!!

No, its the wire for the choke light, it should just be left disconnected behind the clocks on a GTI. If you earth it the choke light will be permanently on.

Started to get some of the engine wiring joined to the two brown multiplugs.

I have so far connected as follows.

GTI-6 19pin round plug - 205 brown multiplug

Beige 401 coolant temp sender - Red 47a coolant gauge

Yellow 410 oil level gauge - Purple 30 oil pressure light

Red 411 oil temp sender - White 30a oil temp gauge

Grey c120 reverse light switch - Dark grey 52 reverse light

Orange 220 reverse light switch - Purple 53 reverse light

Dark brown 1070 alternator warning - Dark grey 7a alternator light

Thick White 120 Fuel pump - White 76 fuel pump

white 400 coolant temp gauge sender - yellow 47 coolant light

If anyone thinks this is incorrect then please dont hesitate to correct me , also any further wiring help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Purple 30 if it is the oil pressure, should be to the oil pressure sender not oil level :P

though I think you have got the wire number correct, as 414 and 415 are for the oil level in my information.

all correct as far as I can remember apart from that one
