OK Michel, I have the both sets of wheels, I didn't knew what's the model symbols of the SL299, so I know now, but are those SL434 you are showing, I have exactly the same as Matthias's on his pics, between both sets there's a slight difference but looks better for me.... :)

Great resto Matthias - once I have a big enough garage (with electricity) I am going to do the same with my 1.6 GTi (also in cherry red), but for now its just a case of mend and make good until then.

Truly inspirational stuff. Look forward to seeing the finished project.

there are a few things to do yet, but the finish comes closer and closer. since 5 month its standing in the garage and waiting for driving.

but I can't afford 3 insurances... so next year I think I drive 1.6 instead of 2.0 Turbo *gg*

thats me- after driving about 1000 miles with the car from curve to curve:

THANK YOU!!! :D

we must talk about the suede steering wheel, I think... B)

your MI is looking sooooo nice, in some details its much better done, than mine. :)

I think I have to do some more detailed work to come closer to a good restauration...

cheers,

matthias

As de Noir said, a great build and the car has a lovely stance on the road.

hi there and thanks for all the nice comments! :(

a short test with rims from a 206 GTI180:

(the tires are 205/40R17, will be changed to 185/35R17)

very important: the pepperpots will be refurbished, too- stock with a nice lowering is still my favourite!

Sounds like quite a stretch for a 185/35 tyre :(

hi there!

long time since I visited this nice forum! a few private things was the reason for that.

my 1.6 is running absolutely nice- I got it on the rolling road: 124hp is definitly ok for me. :)

last weekend we drove from germany to austria, then to slovenia and croatia! the whole tour were about 2148km- without any problems!

you can see, I refurbed the pepperpots- it was the only way to go for the car, I think.

next year I will go for matt black sl434's with red "speedline" sticker on one spoke.

cheers,

matthias
