Recommended Posts

eric_huising

Well, first to start, iam from Holland so yes my english s***s  so dont be to hard.

First a litte story about myself:

Iam Eric Huising, 30 years old, married, and no kids that coast money B)

My car is a 1993 Sorrento green 1.9 GTI wich i bought for 800,- euro's with a dead engine.

It came with full leather seats, power steering, AC, and had driven a respectable 180000 KM.

What it looked like:

Leather and a mess:

Foto-KUTVWCP7.jpg

This project already started aprox 2 years ago (time and money can be a big issue...)

My goal is to get a 205 GTI that is better than factory standard.

From now on it wil mostly be pictures, and some explains.

Absolutly insane! This really is going to be better than the day it rolled off the factory production line :)

What type of carpet did you use to do the arches in the boot? Have you got a link or something? Also I assume you just use a spray contact adhesive?

The carpet came out of an almost new 205 (1998, 39K on it) and indeed used some spray glue to get it in place.

i must say 1st that your english is far better than my dutch will ever be so i can easily forgive any mispelling or grammar errors as i have seen far worse from those who have english as a 1st language!

secondly your car is being rebuilt to a standard we all aspire to and i think it will as has been said before be better than new when finished!

thirdly you are skilled and lucky ( i wish i could get a complete usable 205 gti for free!!! ) lol!

i look forward to following your progress as you continue to complete your car :)

If you look at the original pictures, it had green carpets but Eric appears to have changed them for red :)

Thanks for the kind words guys, really appreciate it.

The car indeed came with a green interior, but i really like the red when its in mint condition.

Also, here's a link to all the foto's so you can see em in full size.

Hey Eric,

looks really great. I followed it on the dutch 205 GTi forum and now here. This must be the best topic of how to restore a 205 GTi in original state, i know of. That kind of precision and knowledge of details... wonderful. I'm jealous of your motivation to do this. Keep up the good work.

Koen
