Brake Parts 1.6 Gti

Recommended Posts

jonb_5

Hi,

Before I order I just wanted to make sure I have the right parts. I have standard calipers and want to replace discs and pads. It's for Hill climb use so I'm thinkng:

Discs

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321633050015

Pads - DS3000

https://peugeot-tuning-parts.co.uk/205-gti-ferodo-front-brake-pads-1-6-ds2500-ds3000.html

Price wise I can so that for £100 as at the minute the brakes don't feel anything special.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

those discs are 1.9 type, so the wrong offset, you specifically need 1.6 discs if you have 1.6 hubs, only found on the 1.6 gti.

pads are correct for a 1.6 gti caliper, however for hillclimb with a standard engine, I would imagine you'd never get a DS3000 hot enough to work.

As above, those disc's are so crap not even worth buying, get some Brembo disc's at least, Pads some Mintex 1144 or something that work from cold

That's great thank you. I was looking on the rally design website and these look like the ones:

https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=562_1182_1198&products_id=9823

It does say however to be used with maxtorq discs but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Brembo discs too and not too much more money either.

Also, if anyone were to know or I will just wait and ring up in the morning. Would the pads come as a set of 4 or set of 2??

Thanks

pads come in axle sets, so 4.

IIRC GSF do brembo discs.

Thanks! I'll get the order in now. Off up to Llandow sprint in 2 weeks so would be nice to have them all in by then.

Many thanks for the advice.
