Ew10 Conversion

Been thinking about this for a while, I'd like to use the Ew10 from the 206 180 rather than the 136 but if there is reason to use the latter instead of the former than please educate me.

There might be a thread already about this but I have other questions on the subject.

So I'll start with the usual...

top mount is different I know that I will either need to make my own or use one made by Colin

Can I use an XU be3 gearbox with a cable clutch or will I need to use a 206 one?

Is it a worth while conversion? More specifically...

Does the extra valve area play a part in making more power?

Does the longer stroke help with torque production?

What aftermarket management works with the VVT system and is there anyone who can map it?

Thought about going turbo or supercharged also, is it better for this?

Also the fact that is it lighter is a bonus ;)

and I reckon I've got a better chance and finding a low mileage engine

also whay driveshafts would i use?

 

Any advise would be much appreciated and I'm open to all opinions and ideas for or against the idea

No, the engine sits at 15 degrees not 30, however you can convert it to gear rods and cable clutch easily.

 

Does the extra valve area play a part in making more power?

no idea, I doubt its a significant factor as the bore is smaller than the XU10.

 

Does the longer stroke help with torque production?

no idea, possibly, they do make more torque than the XU, especially a mildly tuned 136 engine.

most of them!

no idea, possibly not.

yes, also the block is much stiffer than the XU due to its ladder type mains bearings.

 

also what driveshafts would i use?

306 if its in a 306.

Stiffer as in less likely to warp when it gets too hot?

Mind you I dare say if it gets hot enough to warp the block then something else is likely to break/blow first

I have another question if I may....

If the EW is somewhat a better engine than the XU, why does the factory and non factory race teams still use the XU blocks as a base?

Peugeot latest N/A engines for 2litre class is 207 Super2000. Its based from EW10J4S (206GTI 180) block and head. But reduced stroke 88 to 86 and over bore 85 to 86 for making square and using longer conrods. Block is very short comparing XU10 ones. But very very good engine. Before forget I must write latest spec 207 Super2000 Evo 3 engine 1999cc single throttle body and TB size limited by FIA rules. Rev Limiter at 9500 due rules from FIA again. And its making 303 hp. Its good for that kind short block.
