They were'nt on my 1.9!

You can tell if there meant to light up as they have a yellow bulb thing under the actual switch.

I wanted some so I scrounged some off a 405 when last at the scrappy.

Was meant to be holding something for ANthony at the time but who cares!

Of course, it wouldn't have been so bad, except that the thing I was removing that he was meant to be holding was for his bleedin' car :D

Just can't get the staff these days... :)

I thought the 405 electric switches were illuminated.

The 205's arent.

So you must have 405 switches in..........lucky you.

There was a topic on this yonks and yonks ago.....on the old version of the forum i believe.

No way, i was gonna ask about this, i have a 89 205 'Open' and the switches on mine are very tatty, all the paint has chipped off so they just look like blank switches, i will get some 405 ones tomorow!

Yup i asked about this ages ago i think.

Well i got some switches out of an F reg 405, GL i think, fairly high spec with sunroof and they work no probs. Try get some out of as new as 405 as possible, less chance of bulbs blowing!

The miami blue 205 GTi Mi16 that was in Performance GTI ages ago (the cool louvres one) had illuminated electric window switches. The spiel said that they came from a 309 GTi :D Is this also true?

Its a sound theory, but my roll-cage doorbars are right over the switches. I can *just* touch them with the tip of my finger if I wedge my hand down between the door and the bar.

Should have planned that a bit better. :D

Ill just have to live with it though. I planned on moving the switches to a blank panel where the radio was, but I cant reach that when strapped in.

The switches are exactly the same - the only difference being that inside the 405 switches is a small bulb holder and bulb. I've got a part number for bulbs that fit from Rapid Electronics somewhere if you need it.

Before people ask you need the bulb holder to put a bulb in - you can't just wire it in without one. Seeing as I've just got a new camera I'll see if I can take some piccies......

Edit: - can someone host the picture and link it for me - my FTP is playing silly buggers! Cheers

Cool - cheers.

Right, hopefully you should now see the insides of the 205 switch on the right, and the 405 switch on the left. The bulb is inside the yellow housing, with the bulb legs wrapped around the small sticky out pegs on either side of the holder.
