Electronic Fault Finder

The local shop has got an electronic fault finder / reader with a list of fault codes. says you plug into diagnostic socket and it tells you if there are any problems.

Would this work with an 88 1.9 gti and if so where is the diagnostic socket?

Thanks in advance

nope, no diagnostic plug

IIRC there weren't any diagnostic plugs till Motronic on the very late 205's

you'll have the very simple Jetronic system on your car.
