Hi Everyone

Might be a silly question but ive googled this LOADS! How much should i lowering my 205 dturbo by?
Would you buy 30mm.40mm or 50mm lowering springs? I want it to look nice but i dont want it slammed?
Cant people comment with pictures of there cars and tell me how much they are lowered by?

Thanks, Celia

How much is really a matter of taste, but I would personally avoid lowering excessively as it'll do the suspension geometry and handling no favours.

Also, remember that most 205 lowering springs are designed for GTi models with a lighter alloy block engine, and as such, will lower a TD a little more than the quoted amount because of the heavier iron block diesel engine.

It might not be low enough for you, but a pair of standard GTi springs lowers a TD slightly - it won't look low, but certainly enough to get rid of the jacked-up look that they tend to have as standard. I haven't got a picture of my old STDT that I did this on to hand I'm afraid, but I know a few others on the forum have done this over the years so hopefully someone will post a picture to give you an idea.

On an old xld I had once with gti springs the weight of the engine with 2 passengers in made the wings catch on the front wheels and was forever hitting the bump stops just to bear in mind.

I was running stdt wheels too, think they are 15's

STDT was on 14 x 5.5" wheels so you shouldn't have had any rubbing issues right down to the bump stop.

Are they shared with the 405 Sri wheels? It was those I had now I recall.

Maybe my mates were just fat!

405 ones have a deeper offset, not by much though.

Potentially the issue then, regardless it made it look a lot lot better

Mines has had a 1.9dt conversion in it so guessing that could be heavier again?

Mines of 14inch pepper pots.

Think I'm just going to buy 30mm lowering springs and hope it's not too low.

This is my old STDT on 309 GTI springs which sit about 10mm lower than the 205 GTI springs.
