Dashboard Illumination Dying

Recommended Posts

KRISKARRERA

I've noticed recently when driving at night my dashboard lights are occasionally dying. Some times they flicker a bit, other times they'll go out for a few minutes. The illumination of the electric window switches also disappears. Yet the green headlamp indicator light remains on.

Any ideas what the likely cause is?

I think it might be a relay playing up...

At least my old Mi16 was doing this one time, but that one had automatic driving lights installed, which well might not be the case in your case?

Yes I might try bypassing that to see if it helps.

Automatic driving lights installed?! Did any 405s really have that?

Well all 405's over here got it, but it might well be that it was put on by the dealers in Norway and never had anything to do with the assembly line at the factory.

I think automatic driving lights have been more or less standard since 1980s here.

Got a feeling they're making that compulsory here some time. Some car seem to have had it years like some Volvos.
