New Top Gear Bbc2 (Without Chris Evans)

Saw the trailer today, looks interesting. Hopefully the beeb have learnt from the mistake of trying to copy Clarkson and let Joey do his thing with his new team. Though I do gave a natural hatred towards Rory Ried due to his "Will velcro lift a 205" vid on Youtube that I will have to overcome. But putting that aside it could work. What do you lot you think?

Wasn't as good as old Top Gear, but much better without Chris Evans.

It was good I think, you can tell its a different production team and isn't as polished in some aspects as their predecessors.

There's always going to be silly jokes added in but so far they have got the jist of when to stop, where clarksons GT often takes it well beyond mildly amusing to a time filling yawnfest.

I think its great to have guys with a true passion that really can actually drive too, not sure how good leblanc and reid are behind the wheel but Harris certainly can pedal most things very well, usually sideways.

I thought it was pretty good.

I think people look at the old clarkson top gear through rose tinted glasses as IMO the last series they did together was tedious.

Reid looks out of place in the line up. He doesnt strike me as a good enough presenter. Hes also a bit boring to listen to for any period of time.

Leblanc and harris work well together. On their own I cant really stand either of them, the true look of horror when he rear ended leblanc sums it up really. Harris is a hard man to like in this setting if you dont like his Youtube videos. Leblanc is entertaining if you're 11.

All in all it wasnt piss poor, but just your average crap tele programme with a few fancy cars thrown in.

I found it largely entertaining, that's what TV is.

If you don't like it you can switch it off.

Totally agree.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it.

Found it to consistently better than any episode of the last Top Gear or Grand Tour, held my attention, entertained me and was a pleasant way to pass an hour.

I thought that both the Ferrari and Kazakhstan high miler trip were very good.

A nice contrast on the barely ever to be used hyper hypercar scene and the fact that you could run a car for more than 400,000 miles and it still be useable.

Had my wife turning to me and saying maybe we shouldn't be swapping our family car, which has now racked up 115,000. I did say well at least we've got the GTI with almost 140,000 on it still.

Harris is an acquired taste, but while he may be a hyperactive little chap, he is also one who knows and loves his cars and can drive one very well. LeBlanc was good - albeit there were a few he's playing Joey from Friends there moments. I also quite like Rory Reid - strikes me as the kind of person who needs to be given a bit of time to find himself as a presenter.

I watched it last night based on the strength of generally positive feedback and I wasn't disappointed.

It's not perfect by any means and some of it felt a bit forced/scripted (particularly from LeBlanc), but by and large it was an entertaining bit of television.

No, it wasn't as good as the best episodes from the Clarkson era, but equally, it was miles better than many (most?) of the later ones (and a fair number of the Grand Tour episodes too).

Too many awkward trying to be funny moments. If they didn't have such big shoes to fill it would be a better program.

Although, ironically, I did actually think they filled the trying to be funny bits better than the original three did on much of the Grand Tour

It was a promising start and certainly no worse than the teeth-pulling-gritting irritant that The Grand Tour largely was by the end of the first series.

I found it watchable. Possibly even approaching enjoyable. Which was a big surprise. Much better than the last series, better than most of the Grand Tour, possibly even better than much of the last few series of the Old New TG.

Sunday's was a bit dull.

Eddie Jordan doesn't belong on top gear. I cant tell if its banter with him or if he's genuinely insulting the other presenters.

TBH I don't think they did either, made very awkward viewing.

I watched the first one out of interest and Matt LeBlanc really reminded me of donald trump on quite a few occasions, they have some really similar mannerisms. I think that put me off him a bit also comments like "I think you have some kind of mental issue" seem rather outdated.

Chris Harris makes me think of a spoiled kid, comments i can't believe im driving this ferrari omg im so lucky don't add anything to the program. And all the piss taking banter I find really tedious. I feel this program sums up some of the worse parts of modern life, it seems to enforce the idea that its better just take the piss and have a laugh and try and be popular than have any self respect and dignity, and that there is no place for being genuine in the fast paced competitive modern lives the program aspires too. Also there seems like no space for any substance it feels like its trying really hard to keep people entertained and not give any room for people to use their own brains, everything has to try and either be funny or exciting which ends up just feeling a bit weird.
