Diffrences Between Gti6 Engine Looms

Recommended Posts

ok, its been discovered today that my gti6 wiring loom, seem very diffrent to the other ones on these boards, in that its in a few diffrent parts..

Half of it , including the ecu connected is at the moment wrapped around the engine, another section is in my bedroom as we speak, but then it has a large square connecter that bolts through the bulkhead which the rest of the interior loom attaches onto..

these pics of the main bulk of the loom that i currently have should give a idea of what i mean.

My questions are, can this loom be used in the exact same way, and if not, do i just need to buy another certain loom. ?

strange block, which i am told bolts to the bulk head, where the 2nd half which contains the interior loom also bolts onto

lots of color full connectors bundled together

now the strange bit, i have 1x 19 pin plug, and 2x8 pin multiplugs which are situatated all right next to the double relay plug

Mine ( from a Xsara ) has two of those round multiplugs, is the 8 pin one not to deal with the immobiliser? And is the stuff in the 2nd pic not the sensor loom? (Not used in the 205?) Don't hold me to any of this, I have been trawling the wiring threads for too long now :S

There's nothing strange about that lot, its just that you have the WHOLE front end loom not just the engine bit.

All you need for an engine conversion is the engine bit with the small round plugs, and as I said on your thread yesterday, one of those plugs IIRC is for the Cooling fan assembly.

bin that 8 foot long section with the square plug and it'll become a lot clearer

ah brill glad that is the case , ill be picking the engine up at some point soon, just gota decide how many people i need to lift it into the van. the engine still has all the loom etc on it, so i guess once i get that it will be simplier. Dont really want to bin that 8ft long section, as there is no clear way of disconnecting it from the rest of the loom, and i dont wish to get chopping anything just yet.

ah ok, i think i get you now, so basically if i just cut these 2 multiplugs off, with as much wire as possible, then chop my brown plugs from my 205 loom, then mate and heatshrink the round ones in place of the old brown ones, then my gti6 engine loom will mate straight into my 205 8v loom. Thankies

I would do it the other way round, chop the round plugs off and mate the car's original brown plugs on, as they have always lived inside the car they wont have suffered any corrosion which the plugs ion the 306 do.

you'll also struggle to fit the round plugs through the hole in the bulkhead!
