Wasted spark coilpack is an easy and reliable solution, no problem with these acting up as the single coils can.

I've used a Ford type on one ECu cnversion I've done, and am using a Peugeot type on one I'm doing at the moment. Ford type as fitted to Mondeo 2.0L petrol 1999, Peugeot 306 XSI for example.

I normally just use the standard Bosch wasted-spark coilpack that's fitted to various 90's Peugeots and Citroens (amongst others) - easy to wire up, easy and cheap to obtain, and standard HT leads available on the shelf to fit XU 8v/16v and TU engines.

Right then guys, i got one of these coils

It came off a 106 in the scrappy and its got female connections so obviously wont fit the std leads i have for the mi16 and the 106 leads wont be deep enough to fit the mi16 head, im going to guess that the 306 xsi uses the same coild with an s16 engine and should fit??

Nope, the 16V XSi uses a single piece Coil pack, the S16 head is very different to the XSi so it wont fit.

the 8 valve XSI however does use the very same coil as the 106 one you have, but the leads for them wont fit the Mi16 head very well.

GM (Corsa etc) 16v leads will fit that coilpack and the Mi16 plugs, 1.6 and 1.8 XE.

I think many people have used these to good effect.

may well do, I can't remember how close the 2.0 XE is to the 1.6 and 1.8, pretty similar and worth a try I would think ;)

Ive got an omex setup on my 1.9 mi and had a wasted spark coil pack from a st170 sat in my garage so used that. Standard ford coil pack plug on it which you can by from omex etc. They look the same as the ones from the fiesta etc so I guess you could use one of them. I had a set of ht leads made through martin at P R Developments which have the mi end on one to stop the drit and crap getting in where the plugs are and the ford coil on the other. And if you get one from the scrappy get the bracket and it not a bad fit on the end of the head. Works a treat.

Just to give you a rough idea

you can also fit COPs from some VW/BMWs which fit on the mi16 head.

You can also run them as wasted spark.

I just use an Ford Zetec coil pack (silvertop zetec from 92-93 cars to about 96-98).. works very well

just a bit of a mission deciding which leads to use!!! ... but i would reccomend Fiesta RS turbo leads and ditch the plastic cover if you are running Mi16.
