Driveshaft Spline Lubrication

Recommended Posts

Does gearbox oil keep the driveshaft splines happy as far as lubrication goes? Can a standard grease be used on the other end of the shafts when they're inserted into the back into the hubs or is some synthetic a very good idea/essential?

Yes the inner part of the shafts are covered with gearbox oil once they pass the seals .. lubricate the seals with fresh oil prior to fitting the shafts in so that the seal lip doesn't "run dry" and burn off .. also fit caged seals on the gearbox if possible

Wheel/hub side , as you wish can grease the splines with copper or MoS grease but these don't have habit for sizing up like shafts on some other cars so not really necessary .
