Mi 16 Plumbing

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I beginning to doubt that I´ve done the plumbing in my 205 Mi16 build correct.

I´m using the oil/air cooler from the 205 GTI and not the Oil/Water cooler from the mi16.

Does anyone have pictures of the correct plumbing or would anyone take thee time to explain it to me, please :-)

Thanks

Although the picture above from Baz works it has extra hose which isn't necessary on a 205 imo.

Best method imo (& how Miles does them) is to use the coolant block from the back of an 8v engine in place of the Mi16 one, blank the pipe outlets on the thermostat housing which runs along the back of the cylinder head & use the piping as it is originally.

The hose from the side of the thermostat housing is only to short if you have the original phase 1 piping with the seperate coolant temp sensor housing on your 8v, those with the CTS in the back of the thermostat housing next to the guage senders are perfect.

I´m running the engine WITH the extra hose. Will that make the cooling worse than running without it?

I was thinking peugeot had a reason for putting it there?

IMO it won't (& shouldn't) make any difference to the running temps, its put there by Peugeot because the Mi16 has a two stage thermostat as standard so it only runs around the block until this opens & then inludes the heater matrix.
