Opinions On Wheel Colour Please

Recommended Posts

tidypug

I've finally got around to painting my wheels as white never really suited my car.

So here's how my wheels started

then with a new coat of paint

much better already

Now the only thing I've got to decide is whether I try to make them like a set of goodwoods and paint a silver lip on them. What are peoples opinions? The paints got to dry overnight so will be either painting the silver tomorrow or just laquering them.

I don't think there's enough of a defined edge/lip to do a goodwood style.

they are a rally wheel so either white or silver its got to be for me.

^ yeah i reckon it needs a good lip to do goodwood style - which these wheels don't have.

leave them gunmetal all over.

Looks like a nice job, what paint did you use? Must get round to doing mine at some point....

I think your both right, I'm just a bit concerned the dark will be a bit too much if you know what I mean.

I still prefer the 1.9 alloys I had on before as you can see the silver lip helps bring up the wheels a bit.

Shalmaneser I'm using rattle cans from Halfords so not that cheap but I'm hoping to have the set done for £50

I agree the white didnt really suit your car (cant put my finger on it, usually a nice combo)

I wouldnt do a lip, and I would of gone gold myself <_<

Nice rattley can skills though dude, they look like you have done a very good job indeed !

I also don't think they'd suit it, there needs to be a defined lip as said!

Dark wheels do also look good on Miami's though, without needing the lip to break it up.

After seeing the pics Baz posted, scratch my gold comment, anthracite with no lip is the way forward! Really suits the Miami. Maybe some tyre pen to break it up a little?

MerlinGTI - tyre pens his tyres and shows no shame. <_<

I've got a White 1.0 GTi-6 and was thinking of painting the slick-shod track wheels gold, having seen yours its gunmetal all the way!

As said by others, good rattle can skills.....is your dad busy next weekend????

I think my dad nearly gassed him self with all the paint fumes from the laquer, don't think he'll be doing that again for a while!

They're on the car now. I think they look loads better

I've been meaning to get some shiny ones but haven't got around to it yet.

Yes hopefully I'll make it Henry. The meets always fell on my late shift but should be ok to make it at some point.

have you not thought about a blue stipe like the bikers put on there wheels, i have a red gti and put black wheels with a red stripe gives it that nice finish. personal choice it comes down to i think but it's worth a try and easy to put on with an aplicater you get in the pack..
