Hi!

Im thinking of building me a nice gearbox from parts that I have just laying around.
The car I will use it in is a trackday 205 with a nicely tuned xu10j2te.

Ive got gearboxes from a '92 205 Diesel (xud9), one from a 309 GR (xu5m bdz2) and one from a 205 GTi (xu9jaz)

Could I use parts from these to build me a gearbox that should match a turbo-power'd 205? i.e. I don't want one of those foolishly close gear ratio-boxes ^_^

Thanks a lot, Jesper

I can offer advice, we currently use 3.59 fd from 205/309 be3 and 1st 2nd 3rd 4th from 205/309 Gti with an Mi 5th, Have aslo used this combo in other 205 turbo cars we have built one with all 5 gears from 205 Gti Be3 box and the other one also with all 5 gears from 205 Gti box but with 3.48 fd.

Give it go and see what you think, the first one with the mi 5th pulls happily round to 150 + in top and will cruise at 90 at 3k

Hi Whizzer! Thanks for those examples! They sounds quite good for a allarounder, but are the second one any good for a trackday-car? Which one does the 3.48 final drive come from?

What do you think about the one that 205gti.com recommends:

205 2.0 Turbo 8v
2.923 63 1.9 box
1.850 100 1.9 box
1.360 136 1.9 box
1.069 173 1.9 box
0.865 214 1.9 box
3.810 Final drive from a 205 Diesel

Thanks, Jesper

The 3.47 comes from 205 D turbo, the 3.59 is the most common and readily available, my friend does trackdays with his car (2ltr 8v Turbo) and thats running 1st,2nd,3rd & 4th from 205 1.9 Gti with Mi 5th with the 3.59 Fd, he pretty much pushes everything around the track much to everyones anoyance!, that said it is making 250 Bhp with 280lbs of torque thats about 380Nm In modern terms
