Recommended Posts

Greetings All

I finally found some spare time to post my PUG story.

Started 10 years ago with a 1.6 gti converted to 1.9 XU9J1 DFZ later converted to XU9JA/Z - DKZ and finally to 1.9 xu9j4 AKA MI16

Last year I participated in National Hill climb championship. The car was with mi16 engine fresh rebuilt, 1.6 gearbox with mi16 final drive, quaife diff and koni adjustable front shocks.

http://www.rallyzoom.ro/index.php?view=detail&id=10669&option=com_joomgallery&Itemid=198

This car will be supercharged (Eaton m45) bigger injectors intercooler new 65mm throttle new high pressure fuel pump ,fuel regulator all already bought and finally (still not decided about brand) programmable ecu.

It will be a training / street car. But for now the project is on pause because......

This year I live my Dream F20B engine with T2t4 gearbox Peugeot conversion.

I will attach project pictures and comment them. Hope it wiil inspire other people

Simply epic i love this, but how Peugeot 205 is there really left?

What i mean is where do you draw a line and say its one thing or another 60/40 ratio? But either way great work.

Hi, I'm glad you appreciate the work and..

Yes is still Peugeot as much as any other conversion with 405 or 309 or 306 engine with aftermarket cams , valves, springs, injectors, throttle bodies, high compression pistons, programmable engine management, vts rack, zx rear arms, custom springs and arb....

Shell i go on?

P.S. Is a race car not historical one :))

I understand, But an Honda (Integra?) is not a Peugeot engine. Please dont be offended I' am a fan of your work and of motorsport in general. But what made you think of doing this swap, i would have gone for something like this :D1988CivicLX.jpg

No offence taken

But you must search for the right picture.

Then you will understand the potential of this engine (stock 197 hp) for his class (H3 under 2 liters)

Nice picture but wrong one

do you like this one?

Allye, that one in the videos is the old car, the one with the Mi16, 1.6 box with 4.4 cwp and Quaife diff on c5 steelies with slicks. Serban (testamias) hasn't had a chance to get the new one out for its first test drive, but I bet his hands and feet are itching quite badly now to give it some abuse. :)

As for the Honda engined Pug, it's a pure non road-legal race car and for the classes we compete in it might just be the best recipe. H3 is 1601cc to 2000 cc NA, so Pug handling + 100 bhp per litre from a standard engine might get a few podiums.

Think about the money you'd have to put intro an Mi16 or a 6 to get it to 200 bhp, then there are the reliability issues, especially of the Mi16. With the Honda engine you get 200 bhp out of the box, with a short ratio box and a slippy diff all for 2000 pounds. And this engine is almost bullet proof.

Another reason for keeping it pug is all the knowledge we've gained of these cars over the years and all the spares oure garages are full of + the passion for this little French car.

P.S. No questions about the custom hubs??

Sorry for being monosyllabic, but if you have any questions or want to elaborate about anything don't be shy!

Was interested in the hubs but wasn't going to comment.

What settings do you get with the revised hub?

I meant "revised". Just to make you wonder .. Honda hub, vw/audi ball bearing, Peugeot hub carrier -- all machined to work together in order to be able to run performance Honda axles and not to offset brake disk in order to be able to run gti 6 caliper too.

Interesting, not sure Id be totally happy with the cut and shut on that upright but its not my car! Nice to see an ingenious solution to sorting the drivetrain out relatively simply though!

Like i said in my last post " Honda hub, vw/audi ball bearing, Peugeot hub carrier -- all machined to work together and retain standard "big brakes"

Moment of truth. They fit like a charm
