When you pull the wiper stalk back, do the wipers move?

If they do, but the pump doesn't operate, it's either a dead pump or poor connection on the wiring to the pump

If they don't, it's probably the stalk that's died.

To get it to work in the past I had to pull it to me and up so I'm guessing a dead stalk :(

Check the connections on the pump, if that still does not work wire the pump direct to the battery to see if you can hear it running.

Also worth checking the pipes/jets aren't clogged up from being stood for a while

No point checking what's being advised in the last few posts if there's no wipers when trying to washer??

Once the wipers are working then yes, check for clogging etc, but not much point yet as there's not even any motor attempting.....???

Washer on mine packed up due to corrosion on the terminals, clean them up or re terminate and hey presto.

He hasn't said if the wipers are working or not yet, so I was just throwing another thing out there to check, obviously thats if the wipers and pump are working then check for clogging.

The wipers work, I was playing with them driving to sainsburys this morning and when I just pull the stalk the wipers do work so the stalk is actually ok it seems.

I'll have a look at the pump and wiring this week when I get chance.

It may still be a dodgy stalk as this happened to mine, would still sweep but no motor running and there was power to it and the motor was fine. In addition the nozzles do get blocked if not used for a while.

I did all 3 to be sure, pump, stalk and cleaned the nozzles (took the ball bearings out) and no issues since. All in £20 off ebay.

asking not to open a new topic , the motor of the windscreen wiper doesn't work. i got a new one and it works (connected it)

the problem is , i can't get the wipers extensions back into the motor. it seems too tight to fit.

is there any way to do it?

thanks

To add to this ive just had a bash at trying to solve my none working front water jets, i bought a new gti stalk a couple of weeks back as that can be prone to causing problems and also give me a much needed "intimitant speed" base models dont have for some stupid reason...

Old vs new

SAM_0037.jpg

Sadly it didnt help... ah well at least i now have intimitant wipers so thatll stop bugging the s*it out of me :fcuk:

Next up was to check the other end which for some reason has had a zip tie wrapped around it..?

SAM_0038.jpg

I pulled the plug off and found the spades are a little crusty so gave them a clean

crusted,

SAM_0039.jpg

that also didnt make a difference so im a bit stuck again............

is the new wiper stalk definitely working with the washer function??

I pull on it and it wipes the screen three times, and all speeds work.

The rear works 100%

Only thing i can think of is its the pump... or the wiring :(

try wd40 on the terminals, if that doesnt work, get a new washer pump (less than a tenner i think)
