Mi16 Tb

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The throttle body on my xu10jr (mi16, 2,0) is of the "dual stage" tb. The two butterflies opens in two stages. It is not much delayed the second opens. But from a pure power point of wiev (it is a track car only) does the dual opening have any downsides?

Recommedations? Is it worth to do the VAG TB conversion?

Thanks

J4r is the 135 bhp rfv, single throttle body

Mi16 is 155 bhp rfy, single throttle body, acav dual port inlet tract.

My engine is the 2,0 steel bottom mi16. Don't know if the tb is original. Anyhow the tb on it is the dual one with two butterflies. :-)

Sounds like someone has retro-fitted a 1.9 Mi16 inlet manifold and throttle body setup.

Is the inlet manifold metal or plastic?

To answer the original question, unless the TB is faulty (inconsistent idle etc) then IMO it is not worth changing it.

You might be right Anthony. Why would you want to fit the 1,9 inlet manifold and TB over the 2,0 manifold and TB? Is the ealier one better ?

The inletmanifold is made of aluminium.

If it's aluminium it's a 1.9 mi16 manifold

I know of a 2.0 Mi16 with the 1.9 inlet manifold fitted, it was done because the original 2.0 manifold was damaged by a forklift at the scrapyard that supplied it. The inlet from a 1.9 was fitted along with TB, inlet cam, distributor cap, AFM, ECU, loom etc. It works better than it has any right to.

What management is yours running? Does it have an air flow meter? Distributor cap?

I've got a 1.9 manifold on my 2L. It works really well.

It's not the engine you know of as mine is from Denmark.

I' m about to get a new management for it. Before it ran on std ignition and management.

Thanks for all replies.

I'll keep the TB And manifold :-)
