Fuel Sender Resistance And Connect To Digi Dash

Recommended Posts

bobdylan_55

Hi people,

Just wondering If anyone was able to help with a few electrical issues I have.

I have just wired in a digidash but its resistance settings are either 100 or 510 ohm.

Firstly, does anybody know what a 309 gti senders resistance is?

Secondly, how can I convert/adapt the wiring to change the existing options to suit the 309 senders resistance?

thanks

Bob

Which dash is this Bob?

I'm just about to have the same problem with a koso dash I'm putting in.

Same haha

I've managed to wire all the lights etc just trying to get speed and fuel working now.

It has a max. resistance of approx. 280 ohms. As it's only a 2 wire sender you usually have to add a pull up resistor and add voltage, to make a voltage divider circuit. Thus my output is now 0 - 2.5V, from a 5V supply voltage.

Thanks Pete

Any chance you could explain to a thick sod like me? :D

I understand the principle I think. You are halving the voltage and hence with the same resistance from the variable resistor we get a different current? I.e. r=v/I?

In this case is it actually the current that we get the output for the fuel gauge from?

Also if its 280 ohm Max resistance and I half the voltage i presume it would be close but not 100% correct for the 510ohm setup?

Topic resurrection. If I connect 12 the fuel gauge goes to 3/4 and then when I tip the sender it goes to full. Can some one draw a circuit of what I need to add to make this work. Many thanks phill.
