Keep your eye on ebay for an influx of Sorrento parts - though maybe not what you want to hear :(

Scumbags.

There have been a few over the years, this is the first for a while though IIRC :(

With your 2005 join date I'm surprised you haven't seen any before actually.

This little toy might help more of us avoid

It takes a sim card (giff gaff cards dont expire). You can text it and it will reply with google map link, also showing direction and speed. Strangely you can also phone it and listed in on the people in the car. Bargain at £30.

Good luck with finding your car mate, hope it's all in one piece.

That's a good idea. I got something similar a while ago so I could find out where my cat was going but I might hide it in my 205 somewhere.

Not good at all. I am 5 mins away from where you have mentioned the location. Was there no basic security on the car?

were/are there any specific parts that would be easily identifiable on the car other than mentioned above?

the cars are easily identifiable now, my guess is it'll be being broken down

Nice link by Peter, didn't know such a system was so cheap and effective. I'd like to chime in with a good visual deterrent - a snap-off steering wheel boss. Only really applicable cost-wise if you already have or plan to fit an aftermarket wheel and prefer it sitting closer to you. Otherwise the problem is you lose the GTI wheel and wheel position is brought closer which some may not like. People say an ardent thief could just use locking pliers to overcome such an issue, but it wouldn't be quite so simple considering the replacement boss has a much wider diameter base (dependant on snap-off boss design). Plus it's hardly conspicuous for a thief to drive around on mole grips during a getaway. Locking the steering wheel on top would add further time consuming difficulties. It's a good extra hurdle to throw in the way and has proved successful for me in the past.

I'm also currently looking into a way to make my alarm more obnoxious by way of horn and indicator/headlight activation  . Living in central Glasgow and having experienced car theft attempts in the past, I can't take any chances. :(

Hope you find who did it mate.

Any joy with finding this mate?

I've been reading my installation manual today, and as well as listening in on the car when it's stolen, I found out you can also remotely kill the fuel pump, provided you divert fuel pump wire through the relay supplied with the unit.

List of features is unreal, I barely need 1/10 of them. Check out my help me thread also

Sad to see people are stealing these cars but then East London is hardly the safest area around and the 205 is hardly the most secure vehicle around!

I use a old iPhone in my 306 as a tracker hidden away with a free sim card that EE gave me which piggybacks the data from my contract. Plugged in on a constant 5v feed and I've never had battery issues even when left for long times.

Also, my work car has a Tomtom tracker on it which you can log on and see a live map of where the cars travelling, previous journeys for 90 days, how fast, how hard it corners and brakes and can even phone my manager if it detects i crash the car. Fantastic bit of kit and i think they are less than £200 to be installed but there is a monthly subscription and i don't know how much that is.
