Think I've Broken My Thermostat Housing

Recommended Posts

Evening,

I think I've managed to break my thermostat housing beyond repair, I literally just brushed past the cap with my overalls and it fell off!

From what I can see I'm a bit stuck now and need a complete replacement unit, is that correct? and if so does anybody happen to have a spare they want rid of??

Cheers,

Will

It's only a plastic screw. Just bleed it at the hose.

drill the remains out and replace it with the later style brass allen cap headed screw and copper washer.

They're (nearly) all like that Sir :)

Doesn't matter and being an 8v it'll pretty much self-bleed anyway even without any bleed screws.

Wouldn't be that hard to fix properly with it off the car though, as it's effectively just a sheered bolt and the usual drill / pick / tap approach would work.
