what do people think of their new ECU, looks good and has a lot of new feature, a lot better than the old M3D, but is it worth waiting for? has anyone on here trialed it?

Where can I find info on this?

I couldn't see anything new on their page, but I know they were going to start selling it approx as we speak.

And that it should be possible to upgrade the M3D ECU's for a nice price, at least the ones of later origin.

I was told it is only £30 to upgrade to K3, when I brought my emerald at the end of last year.

Proud owner of a M3D ECU since 1998.

Buiyng an Emerald ECU is more than just a ECU in a case you get also the following if your a UK customer :-

The manufacturer of the ECU.

Sells direct.

Maps the ECU @ a competitive rate.

Great aftersales support and cheap upgrades.

Great combination..

I think the mapping costs are one of the biggest positives with the Emerald. There is no where that will map an ECU for a similar price and to such a good standard.

Ideally, get whoever's mapping it to choose your ECU, it's most often the wisest way.

Having Dave Walker map my car was the reason I bought a Emerald Ecu.

I didnt have the personal experiance to make a decision on who id trust to map my car, so had to read other peoples experiances and try to remove the bull**** fudge factor involved.

At the time the one company that continued to only have positive comments was Emerald.

Decision made, I havn't looked back. Always found them helpful and more than willing to explain not just how something works but what knock on effects may be incurred from changing settings.

Now I WANT/NEED the ecu upgrade for mine, got some nice new options and more importantly man-style gadgets to play with

as i understanding it mapping is £250 flat rate, as long as it takes.

as rich said dave walker's mapping was one of the biggest reasons for choosing emerald, the k3 upgrade sealed the deal, as did getting it at a discounted price at autosport

Yeah, definately worth buying an Emerald just for the mapping experience.

Dave was very reassuring when mine was being done despite me presenting the car with a couple of problems.

It's calming to know that your car's in the best hands too

here's some useful info on the upgrading M3DK ECU's to K3 spec:

Any ECU from serial number 41272 onwards can be upgraded - they have to be returned to us - the cost is £30 plus VAT and return postage. Name address & telephone number/email address MUST be included. It's best if people wait a couple of weeks before sending as we have a log jam right now...Lots were sent in for it without people checking first with us on the time scale!

;)

oops:

I noticed an error in the K3 upgrade info I sent you. The eligible serial number should have been 41272 onwards.

not that it changes things much 41271->41272 :P.
