106 S2 Rallye Wheels On 205 Gti 1.6

Recommended Posts

Ray-Vonn

As per title really, looking to build up a super, super-light 205 and the 14" Michelin Steel wheels as fitted to the 106 Rallye S2 are amongst the lightest that I know of. Question is, do they fit straight onto a 205 GTI or am I likely to need to mess about with spacers or anything?

Also, don't suppose anyone knows what approx weights we are looking at on a std 1.6 14" alloy complete with average, say Pirelli tyre, versus a 15" 1.9 Speedline.

Finally, (sorry to be a pain), does anyone know of an even lighter wheel? (I'm from the school of thought that believes that for every kg you save on a rotating wheel is equivalent to saving 5kg on the main body of the car).

Thanks

Lee

yes they should fit straight on, I don't think they are SUPER light, but are lighter than the 1.6 alloy, and half an inch wider.

pretty sure there's a thread on the 106 Rallye Register Forum with the weights of various wheels.

If you're after lightness, Citroen C5 Alloy 'steelies' are a good option.

They have been discussed on here a few times, but seems to get more and more confusing each time I'm afraid.

Definitive C5 Alloy Steelies Thread

The weights thread will come in handy for any other items.

Id go for them cam, but they wouldn't suit the car with the GTi trim, yours pulled it off really well!

Lee I think I have a couple of brand new ones in the garage going spare. You can have them for a good price :)

I've already got a set of Euro rallye arches from Speedy a few years ago & you can get a set off ebay now for £60 iirc.

Mine used to be a GTI :) You can take all the door trims off but it means filling and painting the rivet holes. That or get some base model doors. Then you can be euro-tastic. Second thoughts, don't do it. I like mine being a bit original. :)
